Cooperman Deep Shell Bodhran 14"
Cooperman created this deep shell bodhran in response to the evolving playing styles of todays most progressive percussionists. An exceptionally deep, solid, single ply shell, a finely finished calfskin head, and a steep bearing edge, work together to produce a warm deep tone with a wide range of flexibility. Excellent for micing and recording, the controlled overtones and full range of this drum, from crisp high notes to punchy bass tones, bring this instrument into the mix without being abrasive.
The edge of the head is secured into an exterior groove, which is then covered with a colored knit cord. We designed this self-locking system to minimize the tendency the head to pull away from the shell.
This model is available with concert-grade calfskin head, goatskin, or REMO synthetic head. The head may be taped to enhance overtone control.
Our patented internal tuning technology preserves the traditional appearance of the instrument and allows the player to maintain a complete range of motion, unencumbered by external hardware. Tension on the head is adjusted by the action of an internal, lightweight, moveable bearing member. A T-handle Allen wrench and tuning instructions are included.
Our arm cut-out, an arch design, with softly rolled edges, allows for comfortable access to the underside of the head; there is no crosspiece handle.

(3)The traditional Indian kanjira was made using skin of the now-endangered Monitor Lizard. Remo's synthetic Skyndeep lizard-graphic drumhead is an ecological tribute to the beauty of the Monitor Lizard. For its tunable kanjira, Remo attaches its Skyndeep lizard-graphic drumhead to an Acousticon shell with a 30-degree radial bearing edge; the frame is finished with a dark stain veneer, giving the drum an elegant and traditional antique look. With its modern technologies, Remo uses proprietary materials that enable kanjira players to bend and modulate pitch exactly like the original, without being affected by changes in climate. Remo's Kanjira can be tuned easily by inserting a 5/64" hex key into a recessed key hole and rotating the key in small increments to achieve the desired low pitch. The 2 3/8" depth x 7" diameter Kanjira fits comfortably in the player's hands and features a one-inch flat jingle set to produce a dry tone with short decay. The kanjira is part of a rich and complex Indian classical drum legacy. This South Indian frame drum is an instrument used in classical Carnatic music. The kanjira's shell was originally made from the jackfruit tree; its drumhead was constructed using the now-endangered lizard species Bengal Monitor, or Varanus Bengalensis, of India. The original kanjira drum was naturally pre-tuned very high. In order to achieve a good bass sound, the performer would sprinkle water inside the drum to loosen its tension. This tedious process would have to be repeated many times during a single performance. The tone of the drum was also affected by climate changes which thereby required performers to carry multiple kanjira drums to ensure that at least one drum was perfectly tuned. Remo has developed a modern kanjira using its proprietary Acousticon drum shell made from 100% recycled wood fibers and feature specially developed synthetic, weather-resistant drumheads
The Trinity College TB-3 Bodhran is a traditional Irish/Celtic hand drum. Trinity College bodhrans are built to the traditional 18"-diameter with twin crossbar support. The genuine natural white goatskin head is attached with tacks, giving the drum the traditional look and feel and has a dark green painted laminated wood rim.

The synthetic Fiberskyn 3® head gives an outstanding authentic ethnic drum sound. (Remember, since the head is not tunable each drum will have a slightly different pitch.) This drum is the primary rhythmic accompaniment for Irish folk music. It is typically low pitched and is played with a two-headed cipin (mallet), which is included. The pitch and timbre are changed by the non-striking hand shifting position and applying pressure on the back of the head.
